UAE New Weekend Rules 2022
First working Friday to begin on 7th January as UAE announced that it will transition to a 4-and-a half-day working week, whereas Sharjah Government has announced a 4-day work week. It means Sharjah Government employees will have 3 day weekend with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday forming the new weekend.
All Federal government departments will move to the new
weekend from January 7, 2022.
SHARJAH:
The new weekend will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The authorities added that with this new move, the UAE has
become the first nation in the world to introduce a national working week
shorter than the global 5-day week.
For the rest of the Emirates, the working week will start on Monday and end by Friday
afternoon. The working hours for federal employees are set to be from 7.30am to
3.30pm, with 8.5 working hours per day.
Dubai Government:
In compliance with the UAE govt decision, Dubai govt announces a 4 & a half day working week for public sector employees. The weekend has been changed to Saturday & Sunday, with Friday being a half-day. The changes will be effective as of January 1, 2022 across all govt entities.

Work on FRIDAY:
On Friday, employees will work for 4.5 hours. On Fridays,
employees will also be allowed to choose flexible work or work-from-home options.
The longer weekend is aimed at boosting productivity and improving work-life
balance.
Friday Prayers:
The announcement also said that Friday sermons and prayers would be held after 1.15pm instead of 12:25 PM across the UAE all year long.
