SUSPENSION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF DOLE-AKAP APPLICATION BY THE PHILIPPINE OVERSEAS LABOR OFFICES (POLOs) for Onsite OFWs

The Department of Labor and Employment wishes to inform our overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) that some of our Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLOs) have already suspended the acceptance of DOLE-AKAP applications for on-site OFWs. Said POLOs had exceeded their respective allocations.

The Department has a budget of P1.5 billion for AKAP OFW assistance sourced from the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP). With said limited budget, only 150,000 OFWs out of the million Filipinos overseas can be accommodated under the assistance program.

We appeal to the public’s understanding as we try to find alternative ways to attend / cater to the needs of our OFWs affected by this pandemic.

Sad News for Filipinos in UAE as the Philippines overseas labour office just released the advisory number 08-2020 with subject of Suspension for the DOLE One Time Financial Assistance.

Yes you heard it right, the Philippine labour office in Dubai announced the suspension of acceptance of applications for the DOLE One time financial assistance for displaced overseas Filipino Workers due to Coronavirus.

The public is hereby informed that pursuant to the directive of the Department of Labor and Employment, the Philippine Overseas Labor office Dubai and Northern Emirates will temporarily suspend acceptance of applications for the DOLE One time financial assistance for displaced OFWs due to COVID-19 “DOLE-AKAP for OFWs” Pending evaluation of applications received and subject to availability of funds.

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office has updated its guidelines in distributing the AED 730.

The new decision now includes those temporarily displaced du It was initially reported that only those who have permanently lost their job can avail it.

The qualified beneficiaries are below:

1.     Regular or documented OFWs; or qualified undocumented OFWs

2.     Have experienced job displacement due to Covid-19, as follows;

·       Workers who remain to be unemployed at the time of availment of the finacial assistance under the DOLE-AKAP

·       Workers under a no work no pay arrangement

·       Workers who are unable to work and receive their salaries due to Covid-19 infections.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced that it has started the processing of financial assistance for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) across the globe.

Overseas workers, both land-based and sea-based, who have been displaced by a lockdown in a foreign country will be given a one-time financial assistance amounting to P10,000 or USD200, or 730 AED, under the Department of Labor and Employment’s AKAP program for OFWs.

Who can apply for this financial assistance?

Bello said that the DOLE-AKAP coverage will cover not only documented workers but also undocumented ones as long as they have “undertaken” actions toward regularization or they are active members of OWWA.

People have not received salary can apply?

The DOLE-AKAP program will also include OFWs infected by the virus provided that they have not received any form of financial assistance from their host government or foreign employer, and those displaced by a COVID-19 lockdown imposed by the governments in their places of work.

OFW from following countries can avail the fund.

·       Middle East and Africa (UAE, Bahrain, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia)

·       Europe and the Americas (Canada, Cyprus, Italy, Germany, Greece, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, USA)

·       Asia (Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Macau, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, New Zealand)

To avail of the program “on-site” OFWs must submit the following documents to their respective POLO:

·       Application form (available below)

·       Passport copy

·       Proof of overseas employment, such as a valid OEC, Residence ID, visa etc.

·       Proof of loss of employment on account of the COVID-19 disease; and

·       Proof of a pending case that has caused their current “undocumented status, such as case reference number, case endorsement stamped by the POLO, etc.

Answer: Kahit in-active member ka, pero at least once in your life naging OWWA member ka, pasok ka.

Answer: Hindi po kayao covered ng any assistance ng DOLE at POLO-OWWA dahil ang ibig pong sabihin lumabas po kayo ng bansa as visit visa at nung nagkatrabaho na kayo hindi po kayo nag register sa OWWA (with your contract). Pero kung tumawid lang kayo ng bansa (kunwari galing Saudi) ang naging OWWA member ka doon, pwede ka pa rin.

Answer: Kung maari, humingi kayo ng letter or certification na clearly naka mention ang inyong pangalan na kayo at tinanggal or pinag-leave ng walang bayad. Awaye po ang mga kumpanya na eto ay legal dahil sa kasalukuyang sitwasyon, dahil dito huwag kaying mahiyang humingi.
